Music Approach
Music Approach– Primarily an ear trained musician on both keyboard and guitar Rick has studied music theory as well. Rick reach-es for the melodies and improvises with each selection. Using the song’s relative key, he applies parallel phrasing using diatonic and pentatonic scales. He then just plays what he hears in his head and heart. BB King said to Rick during an interview in 2013, “Play like “YOU” play, and make it your style!” This ad-vice seems to work for Rick as he lightens the hearts of his audiences, and resolves his musical improvisations.
Rick Armentrout, a veteran guitarist, songwriter and producer, originally from Washington, D.C. came to Nashville, Williamson County in 1995. Rick has produced numerous events, benefit shows, and radio & television programs since then. In 2003, after receiving a grant award from Harmon International Corporation (AKG) for an ION TV Show, he began a broadcast series, “Live at the - Factory in Franklin, BB King’s Blues Club in Nashville and Orlando, and the Doubletree Hotel in Nashville...In Support of Arts and Outreach Programs,” that continues still today. Richard was honored over this period of time with opportunities to produce with Beale Street Blues Company for the late BB King!
